In January 2012, Paul and Cath Davies were asked to offer some help and advice to a small group of parents of children from Ysgol Gynradd Castell Nedd who wanted to start running in order to improve their fitness. Expecting half a dozen or so people to turn up, Cath and Paul were suprised to find themselves leading a group of 20-odd runners! The following week, 25 turned up, then 30... then 40... and before they knew it, they had a whole running club on their hands!
Two years later, Run4All Neath was home to over 200 members of all abilities - from those who have never run before through to some very (very!) speedy atheltes.
We now have over 300 members!
On 6th December 2014 Run4All Neath staged their very first Welsh Athletics affiliated event, the Run4All 5k Santa Run on Aberavon seafront. This has become a popular annual event. We also regularly host a series of three 5km races on Aberavon sea-front. We have more events like this planned in the future - so watch this space!
The club is fully affiliated to Welsh Athletics. If you're ever at a running event in South Wales and see what looks like a large swarm of bees - that'll be us!
We pride ourselves on our inclusive atmosphere. From the first athlete to cross the line to the last, we are a team and we want everyone to feel a part of it.
Various club groups meet regularly during the week for different types of runs (see "Where and when we meet" for details).
Annual Membership fees, including Welsh Athletics Affiliation are just £30.00 per year. Affiliation to Welsh Athletics covers you with athlete insurance and discounted entry to most races.
Junior Membership fees are £25.00
There is a weekly charge for attendance at the Monday track session.
All other sessions are free.
You can download a membership form here.
We highly recommend that new members join our facebook page which contains information on race events, social nights and general discussions on running. It is a very active forum and an ideal place to seek advice from coaches and other runners.
